Martha Barnes sought to rezone approximately 21.9 acres west of Hamilton Avenue for Walden Glen, a planned multiple-residence development containing 352 townhouse and apartment units in 35 buildings. The Regional Planning Commission and Rural Zoning Commission recommended approval with conditions, and the Board of County Commissioners approved the amendment through Resolution No. 353.
The resolution limited density and building count; required recreational facilities, at least 1.6 parking spaces per unit, sidewalks, internal circulation, setbacks, landscaping and screening, and primary and secondary access improvements. Later records document a one-year time extension, division into Phase I and Phase II for financing and construction, a proposed resident day-care nursery, and a 2004 verification that the Ashley Woods apartment use conformed to Resolution No. 353 and the approved finaldevelopment plan.
